Does my child have to go to after-school care every day?2023-12-14T15:30:54+01:00

The after-school care center must be at least 20 h per week can be booked. This means that childcare starts at the end of the timetable at our facility and the children can be picked up at 4:10 p.m. at the earliest. Earlier collection is generally not possible. During this time, the educational staff not only provide care, but also education. The after-school care centers implement the Bavarian education and upbringing plan. It is not possible to book individual days. If you require a smaller amount of afternoon supervision, the lunchtime supervision service may be more suitable.

When are the pick-up times at the kindergarten?2023-12-14T15:30:59+01:00

Kindergarten time ends according to your booking time at 12:30h, 13:30h, 14:30h, 15:30h, 16:30h or at 17:15h, Fridays 16:15h.

Familiarization and transitions2023-12-14T15:30:59+01:00

The children are acclimatized individually at the Kinderhaus according to their individual needs and stage of development. Before every settling-in period, we try to invite all parents and children to a personal taster day at the Kinderhaus. This allows them to get to know their new surroundings and gives parents the opportunity to clarify any questions they may have. It is therefore not possible to make a general statement about how long it takes to settle in. This depends entirely on the needs of the children and their parents.

Transitions are crucial for children’s development and should be handled sensitively. Educators help children adjust to new situations, encourage self-regulation and provide continuity to ensure a smooth transition.

What criteria are used to award places?2023-12-18T14:45:51+01:00

Registration in our childcare center is possible all year round. The number of free places is correlated to the available teaching staff.

If there are not enough free places available, a selection will be made in consultation with the provider according to the following priorities, whereby children from Markt Schwaben take precedence over children from outside:

  • Children deferred from school
  • Children whose mother or father is single and working
  • Children whose family is in a special emergency situation
  • Children who require care in a kindergarten in the interest of social integration
  • Children whose parents are both working
  • Staggered ages (first 5-year-olds, then 4-year-olds, etc.)
  • Schoolchildren who have already attended our kindergarten
  • Siblings or former siblings

If the conditions are the same, the date of registration is decisive. Proof of employment or job search must be provided.

How does the allocation of places work?2023-12-14T15:31:34+01:00

In Markt Schwaben, occupancy for the coming childcare year is usually planned between February and April, starting in September. To this end, coordination meetings are held with the municipality of Markt Schwaben and all other local providers. Confirmations are usually sent out around the Whitsun vacations.

The allocation of places during the year takes place after consultation with the municipality and depending on the availability of places. The confirmations are sent to the legal guardians by email.

When allocating places, points such as siblings, parents’ employment or special needs of the children are also taken into account. It is therefore important to complete the application in full and, if necessary, to provide evidence (e.g. professional activity).

Why can’t my child wear slippers with us?2023-12-14T15:31:34+01:00

The children move freely around the house, climb stairs and jump around, so it is very important to wear sturdy slippers (no slippers or open shoes). Kindergarten children are given a labeled bag for their child’s slippers, which you should place in your child’s checkroom. The after-school children place these without bags in their checkroom. To avoid confusion, label the slippers with your child’s name.

By when do I have to register my child?2023-12-14T15:31:33+01:00

Ideally, you should have registered your child by the end of February for a place from the following September. There is no fixed registration deadline. However, early registration is advantageous for our planning.

There is no automatic changeover, as not as many after-school places become available every year as there are kindergarten children who wish to change.

Is there a preschool group?2023-12-14T15:31:34+01:00

Pre-school education does not begin in kindergarten, but from birth. For us, preschool education means
Preparation for school without pressure to perform; learning social skills; developing creativity; playful learning in dealing with materials and techniques; artistic education and understanding the environment.
This means that the children do not learn writing, reading and arithmetic in kindergarten. The task of kindergarten is to create the conditions for learning at school. Once a week, the pre-school children spend a morning together in the house, where they can strengthen their skills in the group.

Why should I specify a priority?2023-12-14T15:31:34+01:00

To ensure that you hopefully get a place at your preferred institution, it is important that you state your priorities accurately and up to date.

Which festivals do we celebrate?2023-12-14T15:30:54+01:00

We celebrate the festivals throughout the year that are customary in our culture and, in cooperation with the parents’ council, a larger festival once a year. The children also contribute ideas, which in turn lead to small celebrations within the house.
Sometimes, however, children are “tired of celebrating” and don’t feel like celebrating the third or fourth St. Nicholas festival. We discuss these processes together and find a good way forward for everyone.

In the case of parties that take place together with parents, the duty of supervision during the event lies with the parents.

What is the difference between lunchtime supervision and after-school care?2023-12-14T15:30:53+01:00

In Bavaria, there are differences between after-school care and lunchtime care, which essentially lie in the care times and services offered.

Hort:

  1. Care times: The after-school care offers a longer care period than the lunchtime care.
  2. Afternoon care: The after-school care center not only covers lunch times, but also offers educational and recreational activities for the children in the afternoon.
  3. Vacation care: We offer up to 44 days of vacation care per school year.
  4. Pedagogical concept: The after-school care center pursues a comprehensive pedagogical concept that focuses on the development of the children in various areas.
  5. Educational staff: The children are looked after exclusively by qualified educational staff.
  6. Supervision ratio: The after-school care centers are subject to a supervision ratio that must be adhered to.

Lunchtime supervision:

  1. Care times: Lunchtime supervision focuses primarily on lunchtime and can take place after school until the early afternoon.
  2. Lunch: A central component of lunchtime supervision is the provision of lunch for the children.
  3. Homework supervision: Homework supervision can also be offered during lunchtime supervision.
  4. Educational support: As a rule, lunchtime supervision also offers educational support, although it is not staffed exclusively by educational specialists as in the after-school care center.

Information on lunchtime supervision in Markt Schwaben can be found at: https: //www.markt-schwaben.de/de/lebenswert-vielfaeltig/Kinder-Jugend/Mittagsbetreuung-MIB

We are moving to Markt Schwaben. What are the chances of getting a place?2023-12-14T15:31:34+01:00

In order for your child to be admitted to our facility, your child must arrive late. be registered with the residents’ registration office at the start of the contract. Places during the year can only be allocated subject to availability.

My child is ill. What do I have to do?2023-12-14T15:30:54+01:00

When you register your child, we will provide you with an information sheet on what to do in the event of infectious diseases.
If your child falls ill, please inform the facility of the nature of the illness and the expected absence of the child. You can do this conveniently via the school manager.

In the case of infectious diseases (e.g. scarlet fever, rubella, ringworm, etc.), the child must notify the health authority and may only return to the Kinderhaus once he/she has recovered. The Kinderhaus reserves the right to request a doctor’s certificate if necessary.

Is there any photo documentation?2023-12-14T15:30:54+01:00

Over the course of the year, different photos from everyday life are taken, which the children collect in their own folder and take home with them at the end of their time at the Kinderhaus. Group photos are also taken once a year. We do not invite a photographer to our
house.

Open concept? The children are allowed to do what they want….2023-12-22T14:13:41+01:00

We would like to dispel these prejudices:

  1. Lack of structure and control:
    • Prejudice: Open work is sometimes perceived as not being structured enough, which could lead to a loss of control.
    • Clarification:There are also clear structures and rules for the children when working openly. Many of these rules were developed together with the children. The fact that the children can decide freely about their time within the structures means that it sometimes seems a little chaotic on the outside. In fact, it is precisely the structure that continues to exist that gives the children the self-confidence to be able to try things out so freely and freely.
  2. Insufficient preparation for school:
    • Prejudice: It is feared that needs-based pedagogy does not adequately prepare children for the demands of school.
    • Clarification: Open pedagogy promotes social, emotional and cognitive skills, which are important foundations for later school attendance. The children are closely observed and assessed by various teachers. In this way, deficits can be identified at an early stage and targeted support can be provided through special offers. If, for example, the staff notice that a child does not like to do handicrafts and therefore does not often practise using scissors, create activities that arouse the child’s interest. In this way, the child practises using scissors out of an inner impulse.
  3. Imbalance in authority:
    • Prejudice: Needs-based approaches could be perceived as too permissive, creating an imbalance between adults and children.
    • Clarification: Needs-based pedagogy strives for respectful interaction in which adults continue to play a supportive role with clear boundaries. They accompany, observe, support and, if necessary, demand clear rules.
  4. Limited preparation for reality:
    • Prejudice: It could be assumed that too much emphasis on children’s needs prepares them insufficiently for reality.
    • Clarification: Needs-based education aims to strengthen children in their social, emotional and cognitive development. Only strong and self-confident children are able to deal with different life situations and maintain a good and healthy sense of self.

Please contact us at any time if you have something on your mind.

Sweets2023-12-14T15:30:54+01:00

We support you in your efforts to feed your child a healthy diet. Please do not give your child any sweets for snacks. Children should also eat milk slices, chocolate bars and the like at home. When we eat sweets, it’s always with all the children.

Can my child celebrate a birthday?2023-12-22T14:13:31+01:00

Your child’s birthday is important to us and we are happy to celebrate it with your child. The birthday child is the center of attention on this day (no presents for other children). We plan the organization of the birthday with your child in the day care center, e.g.: do we bake a cake, or do we buy fruit, which friends do I invite? You don’t need to bring anything with you on this day.
